Join a Rural Midwifery Practice in Canterbury

March 2015 - Ashburton/Selwyn/Darfield/Christchurch

An exciting new opportunity to join a new midwifery practice being established to cover the above area. We are passionate about our work as LMC’s, and practice across the scope, covering all aspects of midwifery care: from homebirths, to birthing in primary units -  as well as at Christchurch Women’s as needed.

We are a couple of friendly rural midwives looking for 1-2 midwives to join with us  - if you are currently working in a pair and are looking for a change, please feel free to contact us.  If you are living rurally in the above areas, OR live in Christchurch and want a more rural experience, then also feel free to contact us.

The ideal candidate/s will be passionate about midwifery, and not mind travelling (which at most is usually no more than an hour in any one direction, and the additional petrol costs are paid for under the postnatal module as per Section 88).

The beauty of the Southern Alps and rural landscapes, as well as the uniqueness of working with predominantly rural women and their families increases the job satisfaction across the board.  As a rural midwife you will also get regular time off, and potentially be eligible for 9 days of locum leave annually, paid for by the Ministry of Health.

Midwives from outside the district could be eligible for a relocation grant from the rural Midwifery Recruitment and Retention Service. Please call us on 0800midwife to discuss your eligibility for Relocation/Placement Support
North Canterbury Opportunity

North Canterbury Midwives are looking for another midwife to join their friendly and supportive practice,
which has a strong 'normal' focus. Confident, calm and capable, you'll be excited by the thought of
attending rural homebirths, will be comfortable in primary units and will enjoy regular time off call.

We need a midwife to cover the Hurunui/Amuri area, a rural relocation grant may be available, and you
should be eligible for 8 days locum cover and help with recertification expenses etc as part of the RMRR scheme.

Please call Sandy on 03 3144666 for a chat.
